“Dear Skinny House Supporters,

I hope you are well.

I would like to thank you for the support you have shown over the past year.

The book has been well received and despite the backdrop of the 1920s, the story remains relevant today. For good reasons-like a family’s survival during challenging times, and for bad reasons- like the need to address racism and a pandemic during modern times.

While the story of the Skinny House is about a black family, fans of every color realize that the issues of family values, a struggle for education, father-son generational issues and the desire to own your own business…are universal. We can all relate to a grandfather like Nathan in our family, or a mother like Lillian who wanted the best for her children. Do you have a shy, introverted brother like Tom? Or maybe an aspiring “star,” like my Aunt Sug!

Based upon the overwhelming responses on our Facebook page, our characters are familiar to all of you.

I look forward to updating you soon about my book, The Roar of the Lion, due Spring 2023, and of course, about the Skinny House Musical. This story has wings.
